![]() Sometimes, people will choose all this little other stuff over just pure gameplay. Even with virtually the same gameplay, people will play the game with the art style, music, even community that suits them. If they can provide something a little different, they can draw people in. Just like to point out that the existence of LoL and DotA didn't stop Blizz from releasing HotS, because there is a high demand for mobas. So this is one way to resolve these issues. And the reason why at least some of these people aren't actually creating games to do this seems to be a lack of a well-defined tiny scope game idea (again based on posts I have read where people either say they have a hard time coming up with ideas period or have a hard time keeping scope tiny enough to be doable). I just think so many people seem to want to push Unity's graphics (based on reading posts saying exactly that). Now you have some context to help set the scope and so forth. now had would play inside the context of a Pac-Man game? Or a Robotron game? Or whatever. So you have your game with a minigun-wielding rabbit of caernbannog. A person should be doing what you suggest. I was just throwing the classics out as a weigh to help with that part. But then you still need to define mechanics, goals, overall scope, etc. ![]() that is great to start with a game concept like that. Taking the original and mixing it up, improving on it.Ĭlick to expand.Yeah I was trying to clarify what I originally meant. That is just a perhaps easier way for designing a game. The game itself does not need to be based on a classic 2D game. a fantastic artist could make a game with the scope of something like Packwar so they can deliver a fun gameplay experience that has really kick-ass presentation. Those (or at least the biggest flaw) should be axed. Yes, many times the classics had flaws as well. People will almost certainly still be making outright clones of Space Invaders, Pac-Man and others probably a decade or two or maybe three from now and people will still be playing them. what I am saying is one way to get around that problem is to look at some of the most popular games ever made. I am guessing these people may have a challenge in coming up with a solid core concept for the game and keeping it a tiny scope. What am I getting at is there seem to be many people who can produce superb graphics and they really want to push Unity to the max in the graphics area. Click to expand.Right the idea is just to use such a tiny game as a base.
